HKUST is blessed with a favorable geographical location and abundant natural resources by the ocean. We have taken advantage of this location to carry out a wide variety of water sports activities.

HKUST believes that sport can develop students’ physical and mental resilience, discipline and sportsmanship, while also sculpting students’ attitudes towards life, preparing them to become future leaders in society.
With our seaside campus location, water sports are popular with many students. With the sponsorship of the Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF), water sports training courses, including kayaking and windsurfing certificate courses, are organized periodically. In addition, HKUST’s annual water sports festival has attracted participation from students, staff members and alumni.
With the generous support from an anonymous alumni donor, enough funds were raised to build a new water sports center in 2018.
